Prototype ist ein Tool zur Dokumentation von Protokollen. Die Protokoll-Dokumentationen liegen in XML-Format vor und werden von Prototype ausgelesen und dargestellt. Prototype kommt mit zwei Plugins: einer Baumansicht und einem Protokoll-Simulator. Prototype beinhaltet derzeit nur eine Dokumentation für das SMTP-Protokoll.
